Sunday, October 27 – Saturday, November 2, 2019
(Phase 2 Activity):

  • Lowered the bridge spans at piers 10 and 12 north bridge onto the new bearing pedestals after a 24 hours cylinder breaks on the self-consolidated concrete mix. were obtained on Saturday Drill

  • Drilled and installed epoxy coated rebar for the proposed back wall at the East Abutment North bridge.

  • Demolition of existing bridge parapet on north bridge span 4.

  • Installed deck form-work for proposed sidewalk north bridge span 1 and assembled forms for the back wall and wing wall at the east abutment.

  • Removed the existing bearing assemblies at pier 9 north bridge, interior and exterior girders, also started jacked the bridge at pier 11.

  • Surveyed and laid out the face of the proposed bridge curb, north bridge, spans 5 through 10.

  • Removed existing concrete to reconstruct strip seal joint at pier 10.

  • Bolted sole plates to the bottom flange of the existing girders.

  • Assembled the exterior girders and formed the proposed bearing pedestals at Pier # 9 north bridge, interior and exterior girders

  • Performed the testing and preparing of cylinders.

  • Installed 230.60 Lbs of epoxy coated rebar for the proposed bearing pedestals at piers 9 and 11, interior and exterior girders.

  • Installed deck form work for proposed sidewalk north bridge span 2 and span 3 and milled about 2’ width of the deck’s surface to widen the new sidewalk along the north bridge between west abutment and span 3.

  • Reconstructed armored joint activities at span 10/9, north bridge.

  • Installed jacking form work at pier 6 north bridge. 

  • Milled existing concrete 30-inch-wide to construct the new sidewalk at span 2.

Sunday, October 20 – Saturday, October 26, 2019
(Phase 2 Activity):

  • Drilled fixed bolt wholes 13"+/- below the top of the pier cap, and the expansion bolt holes were drilled 9"+/- below the top of the cap.

  • Demolition of the NE wing wall adjacent to the east abutment the parapet at span 4 and 5.

  • Excavation behind the existing east abutment back wall, NE wing wall, and north retaining wall on the north side of the north bridge.

  • Installing overhang brackets, deck supports and timber sidewalk decking in span 10, north bridge, which is currently at jacked position.

  • Installing deck form work for proposed sidewalk north bridge span 10. W

  • Welding overhead hanger brackets on the fascia girder north bridge span 11.

  • Attached the proposed sole plates to the existing interior and exterior girders at pier 12 spans 12&13 north bridge.

  • Assembly of the exterior bearing were attached in span 12, 13 exterior girder only.

  • Demolition of the existing NE wing wall adjacent to the east abutment, to the top of the existing footer at elevation 19.6+/- and the north bridge parapet at span 7.

  • Drilling for vertical # 5 dowel bars in the proposed bearing pedestals at pier 12 north bridge interior and exterior girders.

  • Replaced 4 bearings attaching the proposed bearing assemblies (Sole Plates) to the existing interior and exterior girders at pier 10, north bridge spans 10 and 11.

  • Demolition by hand of the existing east abutment back wall and wing wall, north bridge and the parapet at span 6 and 7.

  • Installed epoxy coated reinforcing steel for the proposed bearing pedestals at pier 10 north bridge, spans 10 and 11.

  • Drilled a 6" diameter hole 10" deep through the existing deck slab near pier 12, span 13, north bridge for the bearing pedestal concrete placement scheduled.

  • Removed and detailed the parapet and started forming platform at pier 9 for jacking operations and north bridge sidewalk form works.

  • Installed a total of (8) elastomeric bearing pad at piers 10 and 12 north bridge, interior and exterior girders.

Sunday, October 13 – Saturday, October 19, 2019
(Phase 2 Activity):

  • Jacking the existing interior and exterior girders at pier 10/spans 10 and 11 (north bridge).

  • Installation of the hold plate, tie and blocking assemblies and stainless plates between the hold plates and the bottom flange of the floor beams at pier 10.

  • Removal of the existing bearing assemblies at pier 10/spans 10 and 11.

  • Installation of overhead brackets and deck formwork for proposed sidewalk at span 6, 7, 8 and 9 (north bridge).

  • Demolition of the existing parapet on the north bridge, spans 4, 5, 6 and 7 along with hand demolition of the existing bridge parapet on the north bridge, spans 2, 3 and 4.

  • Welding of overhead brackets hanger on the fascia girder (north bridge), span 9.

  • Attachment of the bearing assembly template to the bottom of the existing interior and exterior girders and transferring of the anchor bolt locations to the top of the existing bearing pads.

  • Installation of two bearings at pier 12/spans 12 and 13, exterior girders.

  • Grinding of the underside of the existing interior and exterior girders on the north bridge, pier 12/spans 12 and 13.

  • Demolition and removal of a portion of the existing jersey barrier and sidewalk on the north side of the existing east approach slab.

  • Removal of existing pedestrian railing from the east approach slab (north bridge).

  • Repairing and replacement of the navigation light on the south side of bridge.

  • Drilling operation of the core at pier 10 on the north bridge (interior girders), spans 10 and 11.

  • Installation of the work platform at pier 11.

  • Demolition of the existing east abutment backwall on the north bridge. 

Sunday, October 6 – Saturday, October 12, 2019
(Phase 2 Activity):

  • Installation of timber demo shield under span 11 between the fascia girder and the edge of the deck. 

  • Demolition of the existing sidewalk at the north bridge, spans 10 and 11.

  • Installation of wooden railing on the existing parapets between piers 11 and 12.

  • Assembly of overhang brackets at pier 1.

  • Core drilling operation for the proposed anchor bolts at pier 12/span 12, interior girder.

  • Drilling of 6-inch diameter hole, 15 inches into the existing pier cap.

  • Removal of the cores for the drilling operation at pier 12/span 13, exterior girder.

  • Installation of overhang brackets and timber deck supports for formwork for the proposed bridge sidewalk on the north bridge at spans 2, 3 and 4.

  • Installation of overhead brackets and deck formwork for proposed sidewalk on the north bridge at spans 5 and 6.

  • Demolition of the existing parapets on the north bridge at spans 2, 3, 4 and 5.

  • Demolition of the east abutment backwall on the north bridge and excavation behind the existing backwall.

  • Installation of the work platform and support brackets for the bridge jacking operation at pier 10 (north bridge).

  • Installation of detour signage for the pedestrian/bicycle detour (north bridge sidewalk was closed as of September 21, 2019).

Sunday, September 29 – Saturday, October 5, 2019
(Phase 2 Activity):
