Sunday, March 22, 2020 – Saturday, March 28, 2020
(Phase 2 Activity):
  • Mobilizing jacking angle to pier 7 and started installation at pier 7, south bridge.

  • Chipping armor joint at piers 11 and 12 (north bridge).

  • Replacement of proposed strip seal joint at pier 8.

  • Preparing and forming sidewalk around armor joint at east abutment.

  • Surveying spot elevation and grading existing bridge deck at spans 1 - 7 prior to bridge deck milling operation.

  • Removal of debris and other articles from the deck in preparation for upcoming deck milling operation.

  • Installation of jacking angle for the bridge jacking operation at pier 7 and 8.

  • Layout and drilling of the jacking angles in place for the interior and exterior girders in span 7 and started drilling in span 8.

  • Stripping overhang and deck sidewalk formwork from spans 6 and 10.

  • Installation of epoxy coated reinforcing steel for the sidewalk on the east approach slab.

  • Pouring of concrete at strip joint at east abutment at span 15, north bridge.

  • Milling operation on spans 1 – 7.

  • Installation of the jacking angles at pier 6/spans 6 and 7, south bridge.

  • Removal of the existing rivets in conflict with the proposed jacking angles.

  • Relocated barge from pier 6 to the shore.

  • Relocated barge from pier 13 to pier 9.

  • Placed concrete for the strip seal joint at pier 8, south side.

  • Formwork for the proposed 1/2 face jersey barrier on the east approach slab, north bridge.

  • Reset the existing pedestrian railing on the bridge in spans 1, 6 and 13.

  • Re-installation of the existing pedestrian railing at spans 13 and 14.

  • Forming and placing 18.27ft of concrete for the median barrier closure pour at the strip seal joint from spans 1 to 7.

  • Drilling for proposed anchor bolts 42” pedestrian railing north bridge span 3 and span 4.

Sunday, March 15, 2020 – Saturday, March 21, 2020
(Phase 2 Activity):
  • Forming the sidewalk concrete on the new east approach slab, north bridge.

  • Installation of epoxy coated reinforcing steel for the sidewalk on the east approach slab and NE retaining wall, north bridge.

  • Installation and tensioning of the bolts in the jacking angles at pier 5, south bridge.

  • Re-installation of the bottom flange angle on the existing north fascia girder in span 8, north bridge.

  • Installation of the new bottom flange angle on the north fascia girder in span 14, north bridge.

  • Installation of the strip seal joint at the west abutment in span 1, north bridge.

  • Re-forming the bridge sidewalk in span 10 on the north bridge at the maintenance bay manholes.

  • Chipping around existing armor joint at piers 5, 8 and 11.

  • Drilling for the 42” pedestrian railing bolts at span 2, north bridge.

  • Installation of demo shields for the removal of armored joint at pier 5, along with the removal of debris and other particles from the bridge’s deck.

  • Relocated barges form pier 10 to pier 3, from the shore to pier 2 and pier 5, south side.

  • Removal of existing rivets from the existing floor beams and installation of jacking angle bolts at pier 6, south bridge.

  • Drilling to install the jacking angles.

  • Re-setting the existing pedestrian bridge railing at the sidewalk closure and pours at both piers 6 and 5. 

  • Installation of the historic railing and pedestrian railing.

  • Stripping and removal of the overhang brackets and bridge sidewalk formwork at pier 14, north bridge.  

  • Relocation of materials in preparation for milling operation on the bridge.

  • Saturated burlap fabric of armored joints at west abutment and piers 5, 6, and 10.

Sunday, March 8, 2020 – Saturday, March 14, 2020
(Phase 2 Activity):
  • Continued the formwork for the proposed east approach slab north bridge.

  • Received and tested concrete to complete sections of the proposed strip seal joints at piers 3, 4 and 5.

  • Installation of the jacking angles at pier 4, south bridge.

  • Installation of the jacking at pier 5, span 6 on the south bridge (interior and exterior girders).

  • Installation of the work platform formwork at piers 12 and 13, south bridge.

  • Installation of the historic railing.

  • Chipping around existing armor joints at piers 6, 9 and 11.

  • Fine grading completed for the PCC roadway base section on the east side of the east approach sleeper slab (between the sleeper and the existing roadway section).

  • Re-installation of the strip seal joints in the bridge sidewalk in spans 10 and 11 at pier 10, north bridge.

  • Installation of the epoxy coated rebar for the deck replacement at the maintenance manhole locations in span 10, north bridge.

  • Placed PCC base repair at the east side of the north approach slab.

  • Placed concrete for strip seal joints for the north half of the strip seal joint at pier 6 and sidewalk closures at piers 5 and 7, north bridge.

  • Installation of the bottom angle on the second section of girder to be repaired.

  • Hand demolition of the existing sidewalk off the bridge on the north retaining wall.

  • Removal of the existing sidewalk on the NE retaining wall on the east side of the bridge.

  • Installation of the epoxy coated rebar for the sidewalk on the NE side of the east approach slab, north bridge.

  • Completed 69.57’ of sidewalk strip seal joints from piers 1 to 7 and piers 10, 13 and 14.
